Yoongi: 2 August Year 22

I laid back after I sent Seokjin the music file. I had been going through the sheet music I found in the storage classroom, reading the hundreds of things written throughout the pages. “We can smile if we’re together.” It wasn’t my handwriting. I thought back to the events of some time ago. It was a foggy day. I found myself cutting across the school yard with Seokjin. It was so awkward. I shoved my hands in my pockets and walked real slow. I hoped that he would walk ahead of me, but he didn’t. “When is the last time you truly smiled?” I asked without thinking. He didn’t respond. I didn’t say anything else.

 

We can smile if we’re together. It’s like that sentence answered my question. I wasn’t exactly sure if Seokjin was the one that wrote it. But it didn’t matter. The melody of the sheet music that it was written on was childish. It was underdeveloped and all over the place. It didn’t flow well and it wasn’t beautiful. I thought back to my high school days and while I could only recall memories of being drunk, I think there were definitely more than just those kinds of days. I stayed up all night refining the music from that time. Then I named it: “We Can Smile If We’re Together.”
