Seokjin: 17 July Year 20

The sound of cicadas followed me as I was leaving the school entrance. The schoolyard was filled with children laughing, joking, and racing. It was the start of summer vacation, and everyone around me was excited. Walking between them, I lowered my head and moved my feet. I wanted to escape school quickly.

 

“Seokjin.” I raised my head in surprise at the shadow that appeared out of nowhere. It was Hoseok and Jimin. As usual, they gave large and kind smiles and stared at me with mischievous eyes. “Today is vacation, but you’re just leaving?” Hoseok asked while pulling my arm. I said yeah, yeah and a few other meaningless words and then just turned my head. What happened that day clearly was an accident. It wasn’t intended. I didn’t think Jungkook and Yoongi were in the storage classroom at that exact time. The principal suspected that I was protecting my friends. He said he could tell my father that I was not a good student. I had to say something. I told him about the hideout because I thought it was empty. But Yoongi was expelled. No one knew I was involved. 

 

“Have a good vacation, Seokjin! I’ll contact you.” I don’t know how he interpreted me turning away, but he slyly placed his hand on me and intentionally said good-bye more brightly. Again, I couldn’t say anything in response. I didn’t have anything I could say. As I left, I remembered my first day coming to school. We were all punished for being late. That was why I could smile. I destroyed those times.
