Jungkook: 25 June Year 20

Dust smudged my fingers as I ran my hand over the piano keys. A sound different from his came out as I gave strength to the end of my finger. It was over ten days since Yoongi stopped coming to school. Today, there had been a rumor that he was expelled. Namjoon and Hoseok didn’t say anything, and I was too afraid to ask. That day two weeks ago, a teacher entered our secret hideout classroom when only Yoongi and I were there. There was a parent-teacher conference because of it. I didn’t want to be in class, so I thoughtlessly went to the hideout classroom. Yoongi didn’t even turn around and continued to play the piano. I put two desks together and laid down with my eyes closed, pretending to sleep. Just by looking, Yoongi and the piano seemed like two different beings, but they were really just one being that you couldn’t even dream of separating. I started to feel like crying as I listened to his music. 

 

I rolled over on the desk because I felt tears in my eyes, but then the door violently swung open and the sound of the piano abruptly came to a stop. I slapped my cheek and began to back up, but I ended up falling off the desks. I started to curl up as I endured the violent words the teacher was yelling, but suddenly the yelling stopped. As I lifted my head, Yoongi pushed the teacher’s shoulders and was standing in front of me to block the teacher. I could see the teacher’s shocked expression over Yoongi’s shoulder. 

 

I tried to press the piano keys. I tried to imitate the song he played. Did Yoongi really get expelled? Will he ever come back again? I had told Yoongi that getting punched and kicked was something that happened to me often. Would he have defied the teacher if I wasn’t there? Would Yoongi still be playing the piano if I wasn’t there?
