Jungkook: 28 May Year 19

“Guys, what are your dreams?” My friends all turned and looked at me after I asked. “Oh, because I have to fill out this survey about my future plans,” I said vaguely. Seokjin said he wasn’t sure and then added, “I don’t have anything like dreams. I guess I just wish to be a good person.” He trailed off at the end like he was embarrassed. Yoongi, laying on the piano chair, gave me an answer with a kind of polite yet indifferent tone, “It’s okay to not have any dreams. I don’t dream. I’ll just become anyone.” We all burst into laughter because that was such a Yoongi thing to say. 

 

“I’m going to be a superhero. I’ll save the world from bad guys.” Before I knew it, Taehyung was speaking from the top of a chair, striking a pose with his arm to the sky. Hoseok grabbed his arm and told him to stop and get down before he got hurt. Then he added, “I want to find my mom and live happily. Being happy, that’s my dream.” He made a smile showing that he was very happy. “So that means you’re unhappy now?” The one who asked was Jimin. “That’s how you feel?” Jimin asked while making a ridiculous face that was supposed to show how worried he was. Then Hoseok faced Jimin and asked, “What’s your dream?” “Me?” Jimin blinked as if he was shocked at the question. Then he said when he was in kindergarten he wanted to be the president but now he wasn’t sure.

 

Now only Namjoon was left. Noticing that everyone was looking at him, he shrugged and said, “I want to say something nice, but I also don’t really have a dream. I just wish I got paid more for my part-time job.” I nodded my head and looked down at the paper. The future plans survey was divided into spaces for the student and parents to respond. What did I want to be? I couldn’t think of anything to write.
