Jimin: 24 July Year 22

I arrived at the shipping container a little bit before the time we promised to meet. Even though we were meeting to celebrate Jungkook discharging from the hospital, it wasn’t just that. We planned to have a talk with Seokjin. It’s something that feels like it will be important to him, but I get the feeling that he won’t like it at the same time. Instead of entering the container, I walked along the train tracks. The wind blew fiercely as a train passed. The platform that was full of people was now empty. Our promised meeting time had passed. I turned around and took a deep breath. 

 

There was no one in the container. Hot air created from the heat of the summer sun rushed out of the door as if it was waiting to greet me. I was ten minutes late, but I was the first person to arrive. Where is everyone else? Did something happen? They are coming, right? I turned on the fan and looked around the container. It had been a while since I’d been here. The word “party” didn’t seem to go with a quiet and desolate place like this. I wrote “Welcome back, Jungkook” with a pen and some paper I found in the drawer of a desk and stuck it on the wall. Even though that didn’t change the shabby feeling of the container, it was better than doing nothing. 

 

Ten more minutes passed as I confirmed through our chat room that everyone was coming. Outside the open door, a train passed causing the whole container to vibrate. Gazing at the world shaking outside of the door, I thought of the time I ran through the hospital doors. If any of my friends were missing, would I have been able to open that door and leave? Just because a door is there, just because it’s open, doesn’t mean that everyone can leave. Maybe Seokjin is stuck somewhere like that? Maybe he’s waiting for someone to knock on that door? I can’t be sure of anything. I don’t know if we’ll be of any help. But if there is a chance that the pieces we stumbled around to find can be even the tiniest of hints… that’s how far my thoughts reached when the container door swung open, and Yoongi came inside.
