Jungkook: 2 May Year 21

I traveled down the Yangji River as the glow of the sunset got stronger. It felt like I was escaping my life, which can only be described as heavy, as I pedaled the bicycle while facing the pink and purple sky. Today again, I took out my bicycle as soon as I heard Mom start to make dinner. I didn’t want to face anyone. My home was that kind of place. A place where no one smiled at me. It wasn’t just the family that lived with me.  It didn’t change even if I went outside my house. My friends left one by one, and we haven’t contacted each other for a while regardless of whether we lived in the same city or not. Inside or outside my house, no one ever smiled at me. 

 

The sun set, but darkness fell on the riverside before the moon rose. The scenery around the river changed the farther I traveled. The path constructed by the park ended and a place full of junk cars, motorcycles, and tires appeared. I left my bike by a pillar and went down toward the water. There was a group of kids on the other side of the river that would light fires, drink alcohol, and wield wooden sticks, but on this side there was no one. No one came to a wreck like this. I wonder if that’s why no one ever tries to find me. I was comfortable in this space where no one could find me, during this time when I could be alone in perfect darkness. I wish this time would last forever, I thought.
