Taehyung: 20 March Year 20

I ran down the hall and slid. Then I stood still. I saw Namjoon standing in front of “our classroom.” Our classroom. No one knows this, but I called that place our classroom. My seniors, Jungkook, and me. The classroom for the seven of us. I approached breathlessly. I thought I would surprise him.

 

“Principal!” As I took about five steps, I heard a voice filled with urgency from the open classroom window above. It sounded like Seokjin. I stopped walking. Is Seokjin talking with the principal? In our classroom? Why? After that I heard Yoongi’s name and mine, and I could see Namjoon take a breath in surprise. Seokjin swung open the door as if he recognized the sound. There was a phone in Seokjin’s hand. The expression on his face clearly showed how surprised and embarrassed he was. I couldn’t see Namjoon’s expression. I watched everything in hiding. Seokjin opened his mouth as if he were going to say some excuse, but Namjoon raised his hand and said, “It’s okay.” Seokjin gave a look indicating he didn’t understand. “I’m sure you have a reason for this,” Namjoon finished, passing Seokjin and walking into the classroom. I couldn’t believe it. Seokjin told the principal about what Yoongi and I had done for the past few days. He told everything from skipping class and jumping over the school wall to fighting with other students. But Namjoon said it was okay. 

 

“What are you doing here?” Surprised, I turned around and saw Hoseok and Jimin. Hoseok put his arms around my shoulders while pretending to be more surprised than I was. In a daze, I walked towards the classroom door while attached to Hoseok. Namjoon and Seokjin stopped talking and turned to look at us. Seokjin left in a hurry while mentioning some kind of emergency. I scanned Namjoon’s expression. He watched Seokjin’s back as he left, and then he looked at all of us and laughed as if nothing had happened. At that moment, it occurred to me. Namjoon will have a reason for this. Because he knows much more than me, is much smarter than me, and is much older. And because this is our classroom. I went into the classroom smiling like an idiot and everyone teased me for having a square smile. I didn’t intend to tell anyone that I heard the conversation.
